Dry Eye Therapy
What is it?
Dry Eye Therapy is what we offer patients who struggle with mild to severe dry eyes. Historically dry eye treatments just included over-the-counter remedies and prescription medications that just treated the symptoms. Our Dry Eye Therapy targets the root cause of dry eyes which is more effective long term.
Each Dry Eye Therapy may differ from patient to patient depending on their needs, severity, and cause of dry eyes. But most patients are offered and choose our revolutionary IPL and LLLT combo treatment. For more information on causes and symptoms of dry eyes, see our Dry Eye Information tab.
What is IPL?
IPL or Intense Pulsed Light, delivers pulses of light that breaks down inflammation and rejuvenates the surrounding tissues. This stimulates the glands to release oils that have hardened and clogged over time.
What is LLLT?
LLLT or Low Level Light Therapy delivers infrared light to reduce inflammation and stimulate regrowth of the ocular glands. This uses energy and heat to stimulate tear production and improve the health of the cells that line the inside of the eyelids.
What Can I Expect?
For our IPL & LLLT combo treatment, we schedule at least three sessions that are about a month apart. The first session takes about 45 minutes to allow us to take measurements and go over the treatment. Following sessions are usually around 30 minutes. Side effects are minimal and unlikely, but we do ask that all patients refrain from direct sun exposure for 48 hours to optimize the effects of their treatment.
What Do The Studies Show?
